Evolution: The Disney Dream
"The District" is the place to be for grown-ups, particularly after dinner time and into the wee hours of the morning.
Each section of The District has its own appeal and there's something for everyone. There is no doubt that Evolution is the central hub of The District. Most comparable to Wave Bands and Rockin' Bar D on the classic ships, Evolution is the place for nightlife with dancing, adult entertainment and of course a full bar.
If you've sailed on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder and have sat virtually alone waiting for some sort of nightlife to show up; you're not alone. I have to believe that this club on the Disney Dream evolved from the knowledge of what was working and not working on the classic ships. Evolution has everything a night time hot spot should be. There's plenty of space for the abundance of adults that pack into evolution each night. There's a variety of bar stool seating as well as small booths, larger rounded booths and chairs with cocktail tables. If you're a tiny two-some or want to meet up with your dining partners you'll have plenty of room in Evolution. The seating is spread over the two tiered floor and the seating to stage ratio is shallow enough that every seat is a good seat.
While Evolution offers similar night time events to those on the classic ships (Match Your Mate, Dream Quest, adult cabaret style shows, etc.) there is a noticeable difference in the participation, excitement and enjoyment.
Remember that old saying, "If Mama ain't happy....ain't nobody happy?" That's the philosophy i've come to think holds true for club hosts. If the club host is reciting a script...the nightlife will be non-existent and the crowd (even first timers) will sense something isn't genuine and will look for entertainment elsewhere.
I think the staff of Evolution is the epitome of "the host with the most". Trevor was the club host for our recent Disney Dream cruise and I honestly have never seen a cast member more immersed in his job and just genuinely having a good time and bringing everyone along for the ride. The entire club staff was energetic and fun and went out of their way to engage the entire audience in whatever activity was happening. I was delighted when Trevor and Justin started off Crazy Karaoke (with a Spice Girls song non-the-less), filled in for the Crazy Karaoke duets and got everyone dancing.
The Evolution dancers would disperse into the crowd after their performances and get the dancing started, the DJ (DJ Breeze for our cruise) kept the music going and kept everyone dancing till 2am.
Anyone who's cruised DCL before knows the skit ,"If I were not upon the sea" but I have never seen it performed like it was with Trevor and his crew and have never laughed as hard either. This crew is always pushing the envelope and bringing the fun to the next level!
Leave your inhibitions at the doors of Evolution and be ready to have a great time because you never know what will happen next!
