Foodie Friday: Pooh's Puffed French Toast
Character breakfasts are a great way to multi-task in Disney World. What better way to experience a meet-and-greet than have them come right to the comfort of your own table and grab a photo with your mouth full of food. Okay, maybe not that last part, but it does beat running around in the heat, standing in lines, and hoping that they don’t go “on break” before it’s your turn.
Character breakfasts are usually buffet or family style. The buffet at Crystal Palace is always on my to do list for one reason only: Pooh’s puffed french toast.
I could lie and tell you its the cheery character topiaries that draw me in, or the way the sun filters through the skylights, but when reality strikes, it’s all about Pooh’s puffed french toast.
If you have had breakfast at Crystal Palace and don’t recall the french toast, it’s because you’re aiming too high. Approach the station and look down…it’s on the kids station.
What I’m about to say may be considered sacreligious to some, so hang on to your seats: It’s better than Mickey waffles. There, I said it, that’s my confession, I would take Pooh’s puffed french toast over a Mickey waffle any day.
So what is it, this divine bit of sweetness that finds itself misplaced on the buffet food chain? “French Toast” doesn’t begin to describe it. Imagine having an elephant ear for breakfast, hot and airy covered with plenty of cinnamon sugar. Need I say more? I think not.
Practical Planner Tip: Get the earliest breakfast reservation you can get at Crystal Palace and get into the park an hour or more before it opens. You’ll be able to take great pictures in front of Cinderella Castle and on Main Street without a lot of crowds.
