Inaugural Voyage-Hawaii

The excitement has been building since the first Hawiian itinerary was announced last year and when the passengers arrived at the port it only increased the anticipation of this inaugural voyage. The boarding process was delayed by approximately an hour and the tension in the port was reaching a boiling point. People began to line up for the boarding process long before we were actually given clearance to board. Leis we being exchanged between members of various message boards and groups that were meeting up and folks were already starting to make new friends. There aren't many kids onboard but lucky little sailers found each other in the port to start making friends. When the boarding process started it was reminiscent of the running of the bulls; the only difference was the pause it takes to swipe the Key to the World card. The majority of folks onboard are Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members; in fact the Castway club members reception took place on the pool deck (deck 9) in order to accommodate everyone. The surplus of Castaway Club members and super repeat cruisers has transformed the environment on the ship. There are no sheepish souls wandering the halls in search of their stateroom and the line to change dining rotation was out the door the minute it opened. There are no secrets of the cruise experience left to be revealed and there are tense moments onboard with folks flaunting and debating their Disney knowledge. I'm told the behavior and atmosphere on the ship is to be expected from any "inaugural voyage". When we arrived in our stateroom there was a navigator with an overview of the cruise itinerary including the dinner attire, dinner menu, events in the Walt Disney theatre and highlights of the day. This is my longest cruise to date and I'm sure the October cruisers would like to know the tentative lineup.
