I'm delighted that James Arnold Taylor will be hosting Star Wars Weekends again this year. For me the feeling is bittersweet because I'll be unable to attend SWW this year.
In 2011 James did an excellent job hosting Star Wars Weekends and I was amazed to see his show "Obi-Wan and Beyond" in which he showcases his talent as a voice actor with a galaxy of voices; over 150 of them!
James Arnold Taylor will be joined by Ashley Eckstein (The voice of Ahsoka) from the Clone Wars.

If you've never experienced Star Wars weekends you'll need to be prepared. There are a mix of character meet n' greets, celebrity autographs, special shows and of course Jedi Training.
What do you need for Star Wars Weekends?
- Supplies:
- Autographs: decide which item(s) you'd like to receive your character autograph on (an autograph book, baseball cap, pillow case, etc.) and have them ready. I recommend a set of retractable sharpees-these are easy for the characters to grip and you don't have to fuddle with the caps getting separated from the sharpee, etc. Know where the characters are and be prepared to wait and jump in line as soon as they form. Some characters are wandering so you'll need to keep your memorabilia and sharpies at hand to grab those walk by characters.
- Camera: you'll want to have your camera out and ready to snap photos of those walk by characters and also to be prepared for your character meet n' greet.
- A basic knowledge of Star Wars: If you don't want to be laughed out of Star Wars Weekends at least get the idiots guide to the galaxy and know who to look for. Your children will be impressed and your husbands will brag. If you don't know who anyone is, you'll still have a great time. Just be careful about pointing and running for a character-many people dress up for this occasion (FYI-There is no official Hans Solo character at SWW)
- Practical Planner Tip: I have a pdf of the 2011 Star Wars Weekends map that i've notated with the character locations. If you'd like a copy email me at Michele@PixieVacations.com
- A "must do" list: There are a lot of things happening simultaneously during Star Wars Weekends, so you should prioritize the things you don't want to miss. If celebrity autographs are your priority you'll need to be prepared to arrive at the park as early as possible to obtain your FastPass for the celebrity autograph. These tend to be very, very popular for die-hard fans and only a certain number of FastPasses will be distributed.
- Practical Planner Tip: If the "real" autograph isn't that important to you, stop at the information center at the park entrance and pick up a 5x7 "autographed" celebrity photo (a photocopied headshot and autograph).
- A realistic plan: Keep in mind you are in central Florida during May and June so the heat and humidity can really put a damper on your touring plans. Set realistic expectations for what you want to accomplish in the course of a day and schedule a few air conditioning and water breaks.
- Practical Planner Tip: The special shows are a great way to take an afternoon break, have an exclusive Star Wars Weekends experience and cool down. Check your times guide for show times and plan to arrive about 30 minutes before the show time to get a spot. I especially recommend the Obi-Wan and Beyond show starring James Arnold Taylor-it's fantastic!
- Patience!: Chances are you'll be stabbed in the rump with a light saber more times than you can count and encounter plenty of screaming children (and adults) when a character line gets cut short right before your turn. Remember that everyone is there to have a good time and don't go to the dark side.
My absolute #1 tip for Star Wars Weekends is DON'T MISS HYPERSPACE HOOPLAH! See it every single night you're there-you will love it! That's all i'm going to say about that because if you haven't seen it, I don't want to ruin a surprise and if you have seen it...you know what i'm talking about!
