Walt Disney World Pin Codes-The Mystery Explained

If you've ever considered Disney travel you've probably heard rumor about the coveted "Pin Code". Not wanting to expose yourself as still wet behind the ears when it comes to Disney vacation planning you probably politely nodded and smiled, all the while thinking "what is a pin code?!?" well, lucky for you i'm going to explain the mystery.

What is a pin code?
  • A pin code is a discount code distributed by Walt Disney World for various savings. A pin code could, for example, offer you a percentage off your room or a free Disney Dining Plan.
What does it look like?
  • The pin code will be a lot of digits broken into segments if you receive one of these DO NOT THROW IT AWAY! It's not a scam, or a figment of your imagination...discounts really do exist!
How do you get a pin code?
  • This is the real mystery. The legend is that no one knows where they originate from, when they are coming or who they are going to. It's just one of those "magic" things. I'd like to shed some pixie dust on the situation and tell you how I believe pin codes originate. If you'd like to get a pin code try the following:
    • Create a login on the Disney World website. Be sure to register with your valid information including email account and mailing address. Register for everyone in your family to up your chances.
    • "Plan a vacation" under the login you just created. Pick travel dates you are interested in, add a dining package, play with tickets, etc. Build your vacation and then save your itinerary.
    • Take a survey-If a Disney Cast Member asks you for a few moments to complete a survey, do it. You never know if that will help or not.
    • Order a vacation planning DVD. These are free on the website and are fun to watch. Not to mention they could up your chances of receiving a pin code.
Receiving a pin code:
  • Pin codes could come through the mail, usually on a post card or mailer from Disney
  • Pin codes could also come through your e-mail. The address is usually "Disney Destinations" so if you see that, it's definitely worth a click.
  • Be sure to read the email completely and DO NOT DELETE it, even if you aren't sure you can use it.
  • *The best thing to do when receive a pin code is to forward the email to your Disney travel agent and ask them to look into it for you.
Miscellaneous notes about pin codes:
  • They are designated for the person who received them. They cannot be sold, bought or transferred.
  • They are never guaranteed and the tips above are simply past experiences and deductive reasoning and don't guarantee a pin code
  • You will need to confirm the pin code, name, address and phone number when you call to inquire about your pin code.
  • They are for a certain discount and must be used within the time frame noted on the code...basically it's not negotiable, you either use it or lose it!
  • If you are booking your vacation on your own, be sure to ask the cast member if there is a pin code attached to your name. Sometimes there are pin codes you have that you don't even know about!
If you've received a pin code and aren't sure what to do, ask me! I'd love to help you discover the savings in a pin code and unlock the magic!
