I've gotta tell you...there is something about the Disneyland quick service food that is SO much better than the Walt Disney World options. While a week in Walt Disney World (Florida) may have you practically in tears for a lunch that doesn't involve a burger and fries, you'd be hard pressed to make a decision from the variety of quick service dining options in Disneyland (California).
You might be hoit-ily lifting your nose in the air at the dastardly thought of "quick service" but let me tell you, man cannot live by burger alone. Disneyland does it better than anyone and offers a huge variety of food options made with quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation.
At Disney California Adventure you can find Mexican, Chinese, American, Mediterranean, Italian and vegan/organic options just to name a few. I'm a big fan of the Californian way of life...very laid back and healthy but let's be honest...when I'm on vacation I want something fattening and delicious that I'd never make at home. Here you can find handmade breads (Boudin Bakery anyone?) hearty soups and stews to put in said bread bowl, pastas, salads and sweet and tasty treats. You can even select a full array of options served in a cone. Yes, I said a Cone, from Sally's Cozy Cone Motel of course!
There are, of course, sit down meal options as well but I find it quite enjoyable to sample everything as I stroll through the parks. Here are a few of my favorite quick service places:
- Corn Dog Castle-Yep, I said fattening and a corn dog is on the top of my list. You can't resist the corn dog when you're strolling through that BoardWalk style promenade, it's on a stick wrapped in a carbohydrate and fried...how could you go wrong?
- Pacific Warf Cafe-There are few things I love more than soup and sandwich and Pacific Warf does it right every time. The bread is fresh baked from the Boudin Bakery just across the way and the soups are hearty and delicious. The salads are unique and delicious and there is a full case of tempting goodies for dessert.
- Paradise Garden Grill-I popped my head in here once while strolling by and was astounded at the sights and smells inside the doors. The scents from the food waft outside but when you open the door and take a whiff...it's the real deal. Here you can find pastas, pizzas and Mediterranean delights such as kabobs, rice pilaf, cucumber salad and grilled pita bread.
- Hungry Bear Restaurant-Found in Critter Country at Disneyland Park this has been our "go to" dinner spot for some reason. I'm in love with the turkey sandwich piled high on fresh, soft delicious honey oat bread and sweet potato fries. My husband always goes for the fried green tomato sandwich since it's something you can't really get anywhere else.
- French Market Restaurant-I'm not going to lie, the French Market is our sweet spot pre-Fantasmic. I nest and hold our spots while my husband hunts and brings back Mickey shaped beignets'. They are fluffy, sugary and delicious.
I'm sure I've already made you hungry so I won't continue on. The moral of the story is...don't overlook the wonderful quick service dining options in Disneyland!
