Pumpkins are popping up everywhere on Mainstreet U.S.A. and through the Magic Kingdom and it's time for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party to begin! This is a hard-ticketed event, meaning you have to purchase separate admission, and is held on select nights from 7pm to midnight. If you don't have a ticket for this event you will be escorted out of the park at the regular 7pm closing time.
So why is this ticket an extra charge and what are the experiences that make it so special?
- Hallo-Wishes: This Halloween themed version of the classic fireworks spectacular, Wishes, is only for guests attending the party. The fireworks show is themed for Halloween and is astounding, I'm not at liberty to tell you anymore than that without ruining your magic.
- *Tip: There is only ONE fireworks show during each event so be sure to plan accordingly! This show is best seen from in front of the castle.
- Boo to You Parade: This is exactly what it sounds like, a Halloween themed parade. Don't think if you've seen one parade you've seen them all because I guarantee this one is different. You don't see a headless horseman running down Mainstreet during the regular 3:00 parade now do you? And you certainly won't see any grim grinning ghosts coming out to socialize during any other parade.
- *Tip: There are usually 2 parades each night of the event, the late parade is always less crowded. Keep in mind you can see the parade from anywhere on the route, not just on Mainstreet so there's no reason to cram in like sardines on Mainstreet when you can enjoy the parade just as much from Frontierland or Liberty Square.
- Special Character Appearances: Everyone is in costume, including your favorite Disney friends. Special character appearances will be happening around the park including those rare friends we don't get to see very often. You can also take advantage of specially themed photo opportunities (who doesn't want a picture with the Hitchhiking Ghosts at Haunted Mansion?!)
- Tip: If you're planning on haunting the characters it's important to know where they are and get in line early. Be sure to grab a times guide when you enter the park and plan on arriving early to get in line for your select character meet n' greet location.
- Special Merchandise: No event would be complete without special merchandise! Although you may allegedly (historically) be able to enter the park with your special event ticket around 4pm (*wink *wink, *nudge, *nudge) the merchandise won't roll out until 7pm.
- According to the 2012 map merchandise will be at the following locations:
- Emporium-MainStreet U.S.A.
- Uptown Jewelers-MainStreet U.S.A.-(pins only)
- Plaza del Sol Caribbe Bazaar-Adventureland
- Frontier Trading Post-Frontierland (pins only)
- Heritage House-Liberty Tree
- Fantasy Faire-Fantasyland
- Mickey's Star Traders-Tomorrowland
- *Event merchandise is available at above locations while supplies last. See a Cast Member for details.
- Trick or Treat in the Park: Yes, there is candy. No Halloween celebration would be complete without it! You'll receive a bag for each member of your party when you enter the park and then follow the map (and the giant illuminated mickey head lights) that mark the candy stops to "trick or treat". According to this year's map the candy stations are at the following locations:
- Adventureland: next to Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean queue
- Liberty Square: Liberty Square Riverboat
- Fantasyland: Peter Pan's Flight queue, Inside Pinocchio Village Haus, Fantasyland Railroad Station
- Tomorrowland: Next to Tomorrowland Speedway, near Space Mountain, near Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress
- Trick-or-Treat Trails: Frontierland-enter and exit at Splash Mountain queue, Fantasyland enter near Barnstormer and exit in Tomorrowland.
- Dress up: Many people do dress up for the party, adults and kids alike. So don't feel silly if you're wanting to don your costume. Disney does ask that you use common sense and be respectful of the crowd and avoid anything inappropriate, offensive and frightening.
Have a great time, happy haunting!
