Top 5 Reasons to Cruise

Top 5 Reasons to Cruise

While I appreciate the zeal of the those who love to “park commando” at the Disney Parks, there is just something about cruising that to me, makes it a vacation above any other.

When my family starts talking about the parks my mind automatically switches to planning gear and before we even confirm a reservation I’m exhausted just thinking about how much they are going to run me ragged in the parks. While they try to calculate how many times you can ride Space Mountain during Extra Magical Hours I’m dreaming of winning the spa raffle onboard and all the delightful things I could experience at the spa if I won.

I won’t ever argue that any Disney Destination isn’t a magical vacation but for my family we’ve found that cruising is the ideal vacation for us. For those of you who haven’t cruised and can’t imagine a vacation that doesn’t involve the parks here are a few things to consider about cruising:

  1. The planning is minimal-For the planners in the family this vacation is actually a vacation for you. You don’t have to worry about park hours, dining reservations, scheduling fireworks, etc. Just get onboard and the rest is taken care of!
  2. Do as much or as little as you like-For those of us who enjoy sitting by the pool with a book and perhaps a fruity beverage with an umbrella in it...cruising is for you. Regardless of whether you’d like to lay around all day in the bliss of doing nothing or just have an hour of peace and quiet, the options are endless. You can do as much, or as little as you like.
  3. There are activities for everyone-If your family is always at odds about what to do next, cruising solves your problems. There are activities targeted for each age group in the kids clubs as well as activities for families and adults only. The Personal Navigator is your daily “to do” and you can pick and choose which activities tickle your fancy.
  4. The Kids are taken care of-The kids clubs on the Disney ships are hands down the best on the seas. Once your kids check in...good luck trying to get them to check out. There are so many fun activities all day long they won’t want to miss a minute. The staff in the kids clubs are highly trained and live to serve...they are all about kids. The security is seemingly in-penetrable and you’ll feel nothing but safe leaving your kids in their capable hands. Each child is assigned a bracelet that’s linked to your stateroom information. The bracelet remains on for the duration of the cruise (it’s even waterproof-no need to take it off to swim!) and is the “key” for your child to enter/exit the club. Kids tap their wristband to enter and exit and the counselors can tell you where your child is at all times. Each stateroom also has 2 wave phones (think of them as cell phones that work onboard) and if your child wants to leave the club a message will be sent to both phones and you can pick them up anytime. You’re never out of touch or out of reach, the wave phones even work on Castaway Cay-Disney’s private island. And not to worry...the private island even has a kids only zone that’s monitored by the staff so the parents can go enjoy Serenity Bay while the kids play in the sun! Never referee another argument between the kids about what to do next...there’s something for everyone!
  5. It’s all included-Forget about park admission and counting your dining credits....it’s all included! Disney Cruise Line offers one of the most all inclusive experiences in the industry...there is even a complimentary beverage station on the pool deck that’s open 24/7. Room service is also available 24/7 and is FREE; so sit back and relax while someone else makes your midnight snacks! Your cruise fare includes your accommodations, shipboard activities, entertainment (Broadway style shows nightly and daily onboard entertainment), character experiences, government taxes and fees as well as port fees. No need to worry about the extra costs that other cruise lines try to hide...Disney has no hidden costs. The service is also the best you’ll find on the seas...you have to experience it to believe it!
Those are a very broad sampling of what I love most about cruising. I could probably make an endless list but those are the main things for you to consider if you’ve been toying with the idea of a cruise.
